Emily has been wanting to make these for quite a while and I have to say, I have been bothering her to do this. This morning she got up early and made these wonderful homemade cinnamon rolls. NO YEAST!
Ingredients:
Dough
1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 1/4 cup of milk
6 tablespoons of melted butter
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Filling
1/2 cup of brown sugar
3 tablespoons of cinnamon
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
chocolate chips
Icing
1 cup powder sugar
2 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 tablespoon of milk
1 tablespoon of warm water
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Make the dough first
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt together. Then add the milk and only two tablespoons of butter. The dough will feel very sticky. When well mixed, use small amounts of flour to knead until it is no longer sticky. Flour a flat surface and roll the dough out with a rolling pin till it is 9 x 12 inches. Melt two tablespoons of butter and brush it on the dough.
Cinnamon mix
Mix all of the listed ingredients together till blended well. Spread this all over the dough evenly. Then sprinkle chocolate chips onto the top of the cinnamon mixture. The amount is your choice.
Then start from any side of the dough and roll it as tightly as possible. Using a knife cut the dough into 1/4 inch slices. Place them all into a greased baking dish, making sure all sides are touching each other. Melt the remaining two tablespoons of butter and brush over the top. Place in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes this time will very depending on your oven.
While this is cooking you can make the icing.
Mix all of the listed ingredients together. Make sure they are mixed till smooth.
When you remove the cinnamon rolls pour the frosting on right away to give the icing the ability to melt and soak into the rolls.
This was a great surprise today and tasted amazing!
